Upcoming Events at the Nutrition Center include, January 19, Birthday Dinner at noon; pork chops, cheesy hash browns, green bean casserole, and birthday cake. On January 26 at noon, join them for an “I Hate Winter” party. The meal includes hamburgers, potato salad, spoon salad, and strawberry pie.

The Birthday Meal at the nutrition center will be held on Tuesday, December 15 at noon. Pork chops in gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, cake.

The evening meal at the nutrition center will be held on December 29. Ribs, baked potatoes, beans, fruit salad, and more.

27th Annual Wessington Thanksgiving Community Potluck at the Wessington Auditorium. Turkey, potatoes, and coffee are furnished. All are welcome.


The Nutrition Site is having their monthly birthday dinner on November 17. It will be turkey, all the fixings, and birthday cake. 

Santa is coming to Wessington on December 12! The parade will begin at 5:30 pm on Main Street followed by the soup supper in the gym. Parade prize categories include: Most Beautiful, Best Theme, and Most Humorous. 


The Wessington Economic Development Corporation is having a “That’s My Pan” to help with the Nutrition Site Building. These folks also bring you Fun Days and the Christmas Parade. Please place an order on or before Nov. 23; these make great Christmas gifts! Order at Heartland State Bank or R & B Food Center or see any board member. "Earnest saves Christmas" will be showing at the library on Saturday, November 21at 2 pm. Popcorn and treats available. 


Wessington welcomes you to the Veteran’s Day Potluck on Veteran’s Day at 6:30 pm at the American Legion Hall. Enjoy the guest speaker, Peggy Gibson. Bingo to follow meal and speaker and all veterans receive 4 free cards! 

It’s movie time at the Wessington Library! “The Three Amigos” will be shown at 2 pm on Sunday afternoon, October 25. Popcorn and treats available! 

Wessington 4-Wheeler Run, Saturday, August 1. Registration is at 2 pm- 3 pm at the Sunset Bar. Must be 18 to participate. Meal special and prizes will follow at the Sunset. Proceeds support the gym. Call 458-2462 or 354-2084. 

July 28 is the evening meal COOK OUT at the Nutrition Center. Brats, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, strawberry cheesecake. It is also your chance to support the Center by giving a donation to help keep their door open. Please give to this fine organization that helps so many people. ANY age is welcome, anytime. They will also be having a silent auction to raise money for the operation of the Center on Sunday, August 2 @ 3-5 pm along with an ice cream social. Please consider donating an item or two for the auction.

Heartland State Bank is leading a donation campaign for the school’s back pack program for the Wolsey/Wessington’s school. Needed items may be dropped off at the bank during business hours: Scissors-youth and adult, liquid glue, glue-sticks, colored pencils, markers, pencils, pens, colors,  boxes of tissues, folders.

“Summertime Fun” is this year’s parade theme. Honoring this year’s Parade Marshalls, the Wessington Quilters -“Quilting for the Troops”

Register your entry at Farmland Building Supply or contact Lana Eichstadt. The Wessington Economic Development Cooperation sponsors the parade. 


Pie and Chili Rules Fun Day July 18:

Pie and chili entries are needed for the 2015 Annual Wessington Fun Days Pie and Chili Contest. The contest will be held on July 18 at the WEDC Sunshine Activity Center.

Entrants should bring pie and chili entries at the WEDC Sunshine Activity Center (former Concordia Lutheran Church) on or before 2 pm. No entries accepted after 2 PM. The pie categories are as follows: a Singled-Crusted Pie, a Double-Crusted Pie, and a Cream Pie. All crusts must be homemade and a recipe must be included.

Pots of chili are accepted and a recipe must accompany the entry. There is limited refrigerator space for pies that require preservation; please bring your own cooler. Winners are awarded Wessington Bucks. The WEDC Sunshine Activity Center will be closed during judging. Judging will begin after the parade and will open to public at 5 PM. The annual Chili and Pie Feed will begin at 5 PM at the WEDC Sunshine Activity Center. A freewill offering will benefit the Wessington Library. Any questions, please contact Donna Runge.

Kids! The Summer Reading program has started at the Wessington Public Library. This year's theme is "Every Hero Has A Story". The Library will hold story-time every Wednesday beginning at 2 pm till the end of July when we will celebrate with a pool party at the local pool. Each Wednesday we will be reading about heroes. This week we will be reading about Tall Tale Heroes. June 17 will be Community Heroes, June 24 Super Heroes to the Rescue! July 1 we will read about Spectacular Sidekicks, July 8 will be Kid Heroes. The final 2 Wednesdays will be Super Hero Training Camp with lots of fun activities. Our pool party will be July 29th with hot dogs being served and prizes for everyone! So kids, come in and tell us about your favorite Super Hero and read about all kinds of Heroes!

Heartland State Bank is celebrating Community Banking month! They will have coffee, cookies, and popcorn each Friday; have program on Identity Theft Protection at the Nutrition Center at 12 noon on April 21, and on April 24 from 11 am-1 pm they will have a customer appreciation meal. Also, sign up to wins a 24 inch Vizio E series flat screen television! Winner announced on April 24! We support our local bank; thank you for serving our community! 


Ghostbusters II will be showing at the library on Sunday, April 12 at 2 pm. everyone is welcome and enjoy their delicious free popcorn!

Save the date for the “Talent Showcase Benefit for Doug DuBois” on Sunday March 29 @ 2:00 in the Wessington Gym. There will be acts of singing, dancing, etc. Snacks and beverages will be served. More details to follow.
