The Wessington Library will be hosting First Lady of SD, Linda Daugaard, on June 21 at 3:30 pm to read a few stories! All ages are welcome.

A dumpster will be available for residents for citywide clean up. Large appliances (refrigerator, A/C units, washing machines, etc.) will be picked up by Roger Venjohn.

The SUNSET Bar & Grill will be hosting a Valentine’s Day celebration on
Saturday, February 11. Larry says, “FREE carnations for the gals or guys wearing high heels.”  There will be a rib-eye steak and shrimp dinner special. Share your love at the Sunset!

MARCH 15, 2017--The Wessington Economic Development Corporation will hold their annual meeting at the WEDC Building at 6:30 pm. SD Secretary of Agriculture, Mike Jaspers will be the guest speaker. Supper will be served. 
























"The Last Mimsey" will be showing at the library Saturday January 14 at 2pm. Noah and Emma find a special box on the beach and find exciting adventure beyond imagination! Popcorn balls and treats in the concession stand!

Discussion on "Boys in the Boat" will be Sunday January 15th, 2 pm at the library. All who have read this book are welcome to attend and enjoy the conversation!
January 18, the Nutrition Center Birthday Dinner and Tuesday, January 24, the I Hate Winter meal. Support the local Nutrition Center.

Save the date! Santa is coming to Wessington on December 10! The Santa Day Parade of Lights will begin at 5:30 pm on Main Street. The Wessington Economic Development Corporation will award Wessington Bucks to: The Most Beautiful Entry, The Best Theme Entry & The Most Humorous Entry. The parade will be followed by a chili/soup supper at the Wessington Community Hall (Gym) sponsored by the Wessington Community Club.

Pie and chili entries are needed for the 2016 Annual Wessington Fun Days Pie and Chili Contest. The contest will be held on July 16 at the WEDC Sunshine Activity Center.

Entrants should bring pie and chili entries at the WEDC Sunshine Activity Center (former Concordia Lutheran Church) on or before 2 pm. No entries accepted after 2 PM. The pie categories are as follows: a Singled-Crusted Pie, a Double-Crusted Pie, and a Cream Pie. All crusts must be homemade and a recipe must be included.

Pots of chili are accepted and a recipe must accompany the entry. There is limited refrigerator space for pies that require preservation; please bring your own cooler. Winners are awarded Wessington Bucks. The WEDC Sunshine Activity Center will be closed during judging. Judging will begin after the parade and will open to public at 5 PM. The annual Chili and Pie Feed will begin at 5 PM at the WEDC Sunshine Activity Center. A freewill offering will benefit the Wessington Library. Car/tractor/motorcycle show, parade, salute to WWII vets, food, street dance, Color Run, pie/chili contest, JUNK in the GYM event, etc.
 

          6:30 to 9:30 AM     Breakfast Brunch at American Legion Hall **Pancakes, eggs, sausage, coffee, juice** 

          8:30 to 9:30 AM    All Ages 2.5K Color Run/Walk – Registration starts at 8:00 AM at the Legion Hall.  Bike/strollers, walkers/runners welcome!  All participants will receive a t-shirt!  Free will donation to benefit the Wessington Swimming Pool.          

          10:00 AM     Open Entry Parade on Main Street.  This year’s parade Marshall is World War II Vets!  This year’s theme:  “Hooray for the USA”!  Registration at  Farmland Building Supply or call “Lana @ 605-354-3589 or Patty @ 605-354-2084

12 noon-2 PM “Cruisin’ Main” Car Show registration following the parade and all entries welcome to join the parade!

          8:00 – 12:30 PM   Street dance featuring “Something New” playing music from the 50’s, 60’s, and      70’s!  No coolers allowed!

It is also your chance to support the Center by giving a donation to help keep their door open. Please give to this fine organization that helps so many people. ANY age is welcome, anytime. They will also be having a silent auction to raise money for the operation of the Center on Sunday, August 2 @ 3-5 pm along with an ice cream social. Kids! The Summer Reading program has started at the Wessington Public Library. This year's theme is "Every Hero Has A Story". The Library will hold story-time every Wednesday beginning at 2 pm till the end of July when we will celebrate with a pool party at the local pool. Each Wednesday we will be reading about heroes. This week we will be reading about Tall Tale Heroes. June 17 will be Community Heroes, June 24 Super Heroes to the Rescue! July 1 we will read about Spectacular Sidekicks, July 8 will be Kid Heroes. The final 2 Wednesdays will be Super Hero Training Camp with lots of fun activities. Our pool party will be July 29th with hot dogs being served and prizes for everyone! So kids, come in and tell us about your favorite Super Hero and read about all kinds of Heroes!
